As long as they are getting along...

That is our family rule: If you fight over it, then we (mommy and daddy) will take it away. This is mostly why our kids don't play video games often, or for a long time. One or the other will inevitably start to whine. I am ruthless when this happens - I immediately turn the TV off or take the electronic game away. My son used to think that when he stopped whining, I would allow him to continue playing. Well, he quickly learned that once the privilege was lost, it was GONE, sometimes for the rest of the week.

Consequently, when I see them enjoying a video game, I wonder how long the peace will last. Today, however, it seems that they finally got it all figured out...let's hope it lasts!

Colorful Walks

Here are some pictures from this morning's walk.

I like how intense the colors look because of the shadows.

Of Recycling, Gymnastics, and the Obsession

"Take the picture already mom!"

I took my kids today to the ReCreate Art Center in Roseville. LOTS of recyclables to be creative with: egg cartons, paper towel rolls, scrap fabric, even clean food containers that you bring home from restaurants. With all that inspiration, it was no wonder that neither I nor my kids could decide what to make.

After seeing the examples, we thought that the Rocket was the coolest thing that we could make. Made out of a caulking tube, foam shapes, and tissue paper, it took less than one hour to complete. To my amazement (and, unfortunately to my chagrine) both kids loved playing with them - (all over the store! Aaaaah!)

Afterwards, I took my son to Gymnastics. I cannot express to you how much love he has for this class.
And finally, the Spiral Sweater. I had insight the other night (while I was waiting to fall asleep) that it made more sense to use 3 interchangeable needles, instead of 3 fixed needles. This way, I knew for sure that I was using the same needle size.

It took a while, but I suppose it took the hiatus to make me figure this one out...

Of Lemonade and Obsession Revisited

My son and I made lemonade today. "Oh. My. Gosh. There are seeds in my lemonade..."I started working on my Spiral Sweater again. I moved half of the stitches onto spare twine last night to see how much more I have to knit. Ugh...I need to knit a few more inches! I decided to resolve the bunching of the stitches by using 3 circular needles. Yes, THREE circular needles.
That light at the end of the tunnel has shrunk. Boo for me.

Of Morning Walks and Nummy Muffins

I really like my morning walks with the dogs. The only problem is, they prevent me from taking more pictures!

Later today, my children and I made Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins from allrecipes.com. I had almost everything in the pantry (including the super ripe bananas); the only thing I had to buy was the yogurt. So for less than $2, we made these:Nummy!
