Pictures of the Day

I got antsy (ignore the pun) to take pictures at a park, so as soon as I was able to take the dogs for their afternoon walk, I took them to the field near where we live. The Blur was his energetic self, so I had to be content with distracted pictures of him.
Here is Lulu - so vibrant! I took it with the John S lens, Kodot XGrizzled film, no flash
I also took this photo with the Watts lens, BlacKeys SuperGrain film, no flash. I love the high contrast. This shot was taken with the Roboto Glitter lens, Blanko film, no flash. Weird; I thought this was a black and white film...

Photos d'époque de la journée

The day ended up clear, so I was able to walk with the dogs and take pictures just before the sun went down. I didn't use a flash for most of the pictures, and this is apparent with the ones taken with my regular camera. I also shot some photos using the different lenses, film, and flashes with my Hipstamatic app. My aim was to shoot appealing photographs that enhanced the subject matter, instead of depending on the effect to make the picture appealing. The major challenge with the app is that I only see part of the picture that the camera is taking. It takes getting used to, but for the most part, I wind up with happy surprises.

Normal camera:

Hipstamatic: Lucifer VI Lens, Cano Cafenol Film, no flash

Normal camera:

Hipstamatic: Robot Glitter Lens, BlacKeys B+W, no flash

Hipstamatic: Helga Viking Lens, Cano Cafenol Film, no flash

Hipstamatic: Kaimal Mark II Lens, Float film, Berry Pop flash

Hipstamatic: John S Lens, Float Film, no flash

I captured this when the weather was questionable earlier today. Kids are so easy to take a picture of, and my little boy is no exception...

Clapotis and Picture Tricks

This is my Clapotis and as you can see, I've started dropping stitches. I like the ripple effect the dropped rows are having. I am also having a lot of fun with the Hipstamatic Application on my phone. I almost wish that I have the real filters, lenses, and flashes that the application mimics. I say almost because that kind of financial investment is crazy; plus I don't have the resources to put in the cost and time I would need to process the pictures.

I hope that the weather will allow me to take outdoor pictures tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the indoor pictures I took today:
The following two pictures were taken with 2 different lenses and flashes. I mention this because they are virtually the same picture.
The following picture was taken with a lens and film "imported from Japan" (I'm still not sure what that means; the effect is neat, though)

Organic

I found this today. I had to have it.
Look how photogenic it is, especially after I cleaned it up. In fact, this was what I was doing when my husband came home.

It was upside down (gotta do a full cleaning with these things, ya know) when he first saw it and he said, "WHAT is that??" The look on his face told me that he thought that I was crazy for bringing this thing home. I told him and he replied (as if to reassure himself that he wouldn't have to look at everyday), "It's for your room, right?" I had to explain that it was upside down and he was noticeably more relieved. I will admit that it was filthy when I brought it home but, really?

I told you, he has no vision...

Anyway, here are the pretty pictures I took of it, both with my regular camera and with the Hipstamatic application:

Vintage is Cool

I found some really cool photography apps in the App Store last night. Out of all of them, I was intrigued most with Hipstamatic. It allows you to take pictures like the ones your parents and grandparents used to take...you know the ones - unfocused with an orange glow to them, the ones with streaks, black and white with fuzzy edges.

Aaaah the memories...I had to have it and at $1.99, it's a steal! I played around with it today and these are some of the "vintage photos" that I took:

I love the effects that this application gives the pictures that I took. I also liked that they detracted from the background clutter - Ha!

Shortest Yard Sale Ever

My yard sale today was a total bust. I had one customer in 2 hours. BAH!

At least Lucy and my kids kept me company.
I decided to call it a day, before my kids started to claim too many of my goods - Ha!
I'm going to try again next week. Do you think if I sell some of my yarn, more people will come?
