Took my kids to the local Aquatic Center with our friends today. I wish I had a water proof camera - boo for me, housing to protect the one I have costs so much more than the camera itself.

Last Days of Summer

Took our yearly summer trip to South Lake Tahoe. We visited a new beach, where a lot of people were enjoying water sports. I spent much of the time taking pictures of the sailboats, water, shadows, and vegetation, including tall trees. 

It used to trip me out whenever I saw trees on the beach. Now, I just appreciate the shadows and interest that it gives my pictures...

WOW - busy today. I noticed this on the table, after it was cleared, however. I liked the reflection on the table, so I took a picture.

A Butterfly

On the way out of our nature walk today, my daughter and I spotted a butterfly. I quickly whipped out my camera with my new super duper telephoto lens and took a shot.

Just Ducks

Went to Nimbus Flat again this morning and found the ducks enjoying the water and the beach.

When Mouse and Elbow Clash

I took this twilight picture and was playing with the image in Photoshop. I was tweaking the curves, when one of my two kids hit my mouse. This is what happened. I think it looks pretty cool...

Angles and Shadows

I took night shots today. I actually enjoyed it. My only frustration was that my camera has trouble focusing in the dark...I guessed I should have known. I think I came out with nice pictures, anyway.

Pinwheel Lightshow

My children love pinwheels. Today, my son was playing with one in the hallway. This particular hallway gets a good bit of afternoon sun, and he was playing with the way the sunlight was bouncing off his sparkly toy onto the floor, walls, ceiling. It was quite the lightshow!

It was difficult capturing the reflected rays, so my daughter placed the pinwheels on the floor so I could take this picture:

Of Windows, Feathers, and Nature Walks

I took my kids to Davis today, to check out the California Raptor Center. Yes, I know that it is quite the drive, but I got some cool shots and learned a lot of stuff that I didn't know about raptors. I saw their collection of raptor feathers on the windowsill and just had to take a picture. I liked the shadows that the feathers cast on the adjoining desk:

We then went to the Arboretum on the UC Davis campus. Traveler beware, there is some kind of construction going on there and I drove around for 10 minutes looking for a place to park that was close to the trail. Plus there is a $7 parking fee - GAH! Anyway, my kids were such troopers and enjoyed most of the trees and wildlife there with me. There were a lot of ducks and butterflies; my favorite things there were the Oak Trees and the flowers.

Finally, this shot I took at the beginning of our walk. Although you can't see it in this picture, there is a pretty pink bush at the opposite shore.

On the Rocks

I walked on the other side of the Truss Bridge today. I ventured down to the water. The view was so pretty...

 Then I walked across the bridge...

 And went down to the water on the other side:

Blueberries and a View

Took my kids berry picking today. Seems I picked the perfect day - pretty clouds dotted the sky, a nice breeze kept us cool, and the temperature was in the mid 80s. Wonderful!
