Beets

I am making my first dish with beets today. For some reason, I was reminded of that scene in Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, where Denethor, the Steward of Gondor is eating red grapes and the juice is oozing down his chin, as his son, Faramir, is fighting against the Orcs in Osgiliath...Morbid, I know.
